The White House has introduced a new cybersecurity initiative called GOLD EAGLE. The program aims to help government agencies and private companies work together to identify and fix software vulnerabilities more quickly.
President Donald Trump’s administration announced the initiative as part of its wider effort to strengthen artificial intelligence innovation while improving the country’s cyber defenses.
Several federal agencies joined the project. They include the White House, the Treasury Department, the Homeland Security Department (DHS), via the Internet security and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and the Department of War (DOW). These agencies are working alongside open-source software partners and companies that operate America’s critical infrastructure.
The administration said this partnership creates a central system that allows organizations to report, review, and fix cybersecurity weaknesses much faster than before. Officials also explained that the initiative uses existing government resources and legal authorities. The goal is to improve coordination without creating an entirely new federal system.
Government Agencies and Industry Join Forces to Speed Up Cyber Defense
According to the White House, GOLD EAGLE serves as a central hub for cybersecurity vulnerability coordination. The system allows participating organizations to share newly discovered software weaknesses, verify them quickly, and decide which ones require immediate attention.
The administration said the program also uses advanced artificial intelligence to help security teams detect possible attacks earlier. The need for such coordination is evident; hackers, not too long ago, claimed a major breach of Chinese military data.
The technology can also reduce repeated security scans and deliver clear guidance to both government agencies and private organizations. The White House added that this approach helps defenders focus first on the most dangerous threats instead of spending time on lower-risk issues.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the department is working closely with private companies to protect the country’s financial system. According to Bessent, the Treasury Department, under President Trump’s leadership, is partnering with the private sector to strengthen financial institutions, remove security weaknesses, and preserve confidence in the U.S. financial system.
He added that the Treasury and other federal agencies will continue using advanced artificial intelligence to stay ahead of cyber threats and better protect Americans.
The administration said GOLD EAGLE officially comes from President Trump’s Executive Order 14409, signed on June 2, 2026. The order focuses on promoting advanced artificial intelligence innovation while improving national security.
The officials described the initiative as a new way of handling cyber defense. Instead of working separately, government agencies and private organizations can now coordinate their efforts through one shared system.
The White House also said the program helps reduce duplicated work while giving security teams practical information they can use to protect their networks faster.
Officials Say AI will Help Strengthen National Cyber Protection
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the administration wants to approach cybersecurity with greater urgency. According to Hegseth, President Trump’s leadership has pushed the government to take a wartime approach toward cyber defense by working continuously to eliminate software vulnerabilities.
He said GOLD EAGLE stands at the front of America’s cyber protection efforts and combines advanced artificial intelligence with leading American technology companies to defend critical infrastructure and protect the homeland.
The administration also described GOLD EAGLE as a force multiplier. Officials said it helps government agencies and businesses identify risks together, decide which problems need immediate attention, and improve the strength of systems that support the nation’s economy, security, and everyday services. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin also highlighted the partnership between government agencies and private companies.
According to Mullin, the Trump Administration is using GOLD EAGLE, along with stronger coordination and a wide range of security tools, to defend the country’s cyber infrastructure. He said the partnership will build on current security efforts to protect software and networks while encouraging continued progress in artificial intelligence.
He added that the administration will keep studying how these technologies can improve national defenses and support America’s ability to compete globally. The White House said the initiative has already started receiving reports of cybersecurity vulnerabilities from different industries. Officials said the program reviews these reports, confirms the findings, and helps organizations respond more quickly.
GOLD EAGLE Begins Handling Reported Cybersecurity Vulnerabilities
The administration said GOLD EAGLE is already operating. The system has begun collecting vulnerability reports from different sectors and ranking them based on urgency. Officials explained that the initiative also coordinates verification scans before sending priority information to organizations responsible for fixing the problems.

National Cyber Director Sean Cairncross said the administration wants the United States to remain a global leader in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
