Treshaun Thompson, a second person of interest, disappeared in September 2025 and the cops still can’t seem to track him down.
A dark web drug dealer who managed to wriggle out of his first arrest, fled town and made off to Germany, has now been brought back to British Columbia.
He’s facing a bunch of serious charges in relation to drug trafficking crimes and possession of stolen firearms.
Details of the Investigation and Initial Arrest
Isaac Oliveira-Scott, 29, was running a seriously slick drug operation. He was using cryptocurrency and the dark web to keep his tracks nice and hidden. Canada Post was actually helping him out by shipping all his illicit goods all over the country.
The RCMP spent 4 years digging into this network of his. What did they find? Fake pills, containing a synthetic opioid, fentanyl. This substance is very potent, like a few grains can kill. There are so many stories all over North America of people who died due to overdosing on this same fentanyl.
In February this year, the police got a warrant to raid a Lower Mainland property. The scale of dark web drug trafficking is enormous, Australian police recently dismantled an $80 million drug network operating on the dark web, showing that these operations generate massive revenues and require extensive, multi-year investigations to dismantle.
That’s when they finally caught up with Oliveira-Scott. When they searched the place, they found a stash of stolen firearms & ammo, plus a whole lot more drugs – including fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine. They also turned up all sorts of associated paraphernalia, dodgy ID documents & stacks of cash.
How the Suspect Fled and Got Re-Arrested
After that first arrest, and before a single charge was even laid, the police had to let Oliveira-Scott walk. He had managed to sneak out of the country by May 2025, & before the authorities even had time to get around to laying the charges.
By October, an arrest warrant had been issued for him so the cops could track him down & re-arrest him wherever he was in Canada. Interpol put out a Red Notice too. That’s a global alert asking police worldwide to find and arrest someone.
The RCMP didn’t give up. “Suspects may evade police to avoid prosecution,” said Cpl. James Bennett. “But this file represents the tenacity of federal investigators working with international law enforcement partners.”
In February, German police arrested Oliveira-Scott in Europe. He was escorted back to B.C. this week and will now face trafficking and firearms, which prosecutors filed last October.
More Digging Uncovers a Bigger Drug Operation
Bennett called the investigation “remarkably complex.” The suspects hid behind the dark web to shield their identities. “It was a sophisticated enterprise that shipped all manner of illicit drugs across the country,” he added.
The case shows how online anonymity isn’t bulletproof. Police can and will follow digital trails across borders. There’s also another suspect, Treshaun Thompson, who’s also part of this case. However, one can find him. He was waiting to go on trial, but then, he disappeared.
Victoria police say he went missing in September last year, last seen around 9 p.m. in Rockland. They dropped a lot of the charges against him in January. But police keep investigating his disappearance. For now, only one suspect is back in custody. The other remains a ghost.
