The criminal has stated that these documents belong to Badoo, which is one of the largest online dating platforms worldwide.  

This means that the safety of many people who use this popular matching service is now under heavy threat. The seller claims that the massive package contains more than 51 million individual user accounts from the dating site. In addition, they are showing sample files to prove that the stolen details are real and highly detailed.

Meanwhile, computer security experts are urging everyone who uses the app to be extremely careful. Although no one has officially proven if the files are totally fresh or genuine – the risk remains very high. Therefore, dating app users must take quick action to protect their online accounts and keep their personal lives safe from cyber thieves.

What Information is Inside the Stolen Files?

The digital thief claims that the stolen database contains an incredibly wide variety of private details. First, the files show basic contact information like personal email addresses and working phone numbers. 

Also, the package contains personal information such as actual names, gender, date of birth, and detailed locations like cities and countries. The risks of app-based data collection are highlighted by ESET’s warning about fake call history apps on Google Play that have defrauded millions.

Furthermore, the stolen records reportedly contain the passwords of millions of registered users; this is the most dangerous part of this leak. 

Besides common login information, the data also has extremely precise data on how the users utilize the app. For instance, the records include pictures of users, interests, status of accounts, and indication if a user pays for app premium features.

In addition, the data includes IP addresses (Internet Protocol), which are numbers that identify the location of the computer or mobile phone the users used to connect to the internet. This means that bad actors could theoretically map out where users live and what they like. 

The thief is currently selling these files through a secret chat account on a messaging app called Telegram. Since this app is highly private, it is very easy for criminals to talk to buyers without the police catching them. If these private files fall into the wrong hands, they can cause immense emotional and financial pain to millions of unsuspecting people.
